Our Client based in Medway is currently looking for an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Process Engineer to join their production team on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be involved with day to day production duties relating to PCB assembly and SMT.

 

Duties include:

 

  • Program generation of SMT line equipment

  • To provide technical support (trouble shooting, problem solving, producing jigs/fixtures) to the production lines

  • Produce relevant documents to implement products and new product introductions into manufacture procedures – e.g. work instructions and BOM

  • Work with the product team to identify manufacturing needs

  • Assist with shop floor layout and cell designs

  • To work closely with the shop floor offering support to line leaders and assembly operators

  • Ensure product and process quality meets required specification

  • Gather and report production cell KPI’s

  • Utilise lean manufacturing methods

  • Follow company quality procedures

  • Offering support and guidance to the shop floor - supporting and training the line leaders and operators

     

     

    Education / Skills/ Attributes:

     

    Essential

     

  • HNC in Electronic Engineering or equivalent

  • Previous experience in Production Engineering including SMT, trouble shooting. Prior electronic manufacturing including conventional and SMT PCB

  • Working with manufacturing equipment

  • A understanding of Lean methodology

  • Program generation for SMT line e.g. Pick and Place, AOI, Flying Probe, Solder Paste Printing Machine, Oven etc.

  • Strong communicator verbally and written

  • Able to work under pressure

  • Pro-active and able to take ownership

  • High attention to detail

  • A good thinker and active listener

  • Good time management skills

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn about new processes

    Desirable

  • Certificate courses for manufacturing – desirable

  • IPC-A610 certification experience – desirable

  • SAP Business 1, 2D/3D CAD, Assembleon, BTU, Dek & SAKI AOI
