Our Client based in Medway, Kent is seeking to recruit a Product Development Assistant (Marketing/Project Manager/Buying) this position would suit someone with creative flair.  The role is to work with internal and external departments sourcing and building brands (packaging) which are sold to retailers. 

 

Ideally, candidates will be educated to a minimum of A Level standard or equivalent with excellent numeracy and literacy skills.  Suitable backgrounds would be marketing, product development or purchasing.  The ability to work under pressure and to very tight deadlines is essential as is possessing excellent project management skills.  Full job description is available upon request.

 

Once operational the successful candidate will have responsibility for;

 

  • Project Management, ensuring all key milestone dates on the critical path of the product development cycle are met on time.
  • Working with Sales team & Customer to create a range of innovative & commercially viable products.
  • Researching the market, (previous seasons, current market trends, future trends) to inform creation of new product development.
  • Create briefs for Design Team
  • Sourcing of new components, negotiating costs, managing minimum order requirements
  • When required attend development meetings to gain greater understanding and ownership of the product development and requirements
  • Forecasting stock requirements for season ahead.
  • Sample management
  • Requesting necessary product/ingredient specifications for back of pack copy.
  • Creating pack copy templates & briefing in final artwork.
  • Continuously reviewing the market, identifying & communicating any new innovations, key trends as well as threats from competitors.

Experience required:

  • Experience of sourcing new components and cost negotiating

  • Experience of working within Design and Product Development or Buying is preferable

  • Experience of presenting to a senior audience would be an advantage but not essential

    • Ability to identify opportunities for the company

    • Determination for “right-first-time” processes and resolve to understand breakdown/ failure root cause and prevent reoccurrence

    • Strong organising and coordinating skills

      Qualifications and education required:

  • Preferably A Level or degree qualified (or equivalent).  It is essential to have good numeracy skills as well as good written and oral communication abilities, therefore a Grade C or above in Maths and English GCSE’s is required

  • UK driving licence

    Equipment and Software used:

  • MS Office ( Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)

     

    Working Monday to Thursday 8.30/9am to 5/5.30pm, 9am to 3pm on Fridays – 28 days holiday + BH + ‘discretionary annual bonus’ and other benefits.
