Our Client based in Kings Hill is currently looking for a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join their team. Reporting to the Head of Lending you will provide support to Finance; underwriting applications accurately within prescribed timescales whilst focusing on providing excellent customer service at all times.

Working Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm, our Client offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Duties include:

  • Managing key relationships - build and maintain effective relationships with all new and existing clients
  • Underwriting cases
  • Maintaining internal systems with up to date lender data/criteria
  • Assess portfolio Landlords in accordance with current regulations and guidelines
  • The ability to Interpret CAIS information
  • Provide training to Underwriters
  • Taking ownership of complex cases and queries
  • Ensure timely, accurate and appropriate responses to telephone calls/enquiries or correspondence from clients, lenders or valuers
  • Liaise with Mortgage Consultants
  • Liaise with Senior Management
  • Input, update and maintain data so that systems and files accurately reflect current position at all times
  • Produces written correspondence and documents using standard formats
  • Manages diary system to monitor cases and progress where appropriate
  • Assists colleagues in dealing with more complex cases
  • Present cases to Credit Committee for approval


Skills/ Attributes

  • A minimum of 2-3 years underwriting experience preferably within the Buy to Let market, although residential or commercial markets can be considered
  • Previously held a mandate in excess of £250,000
  • Experience of dealing with brokers and third parties such as Solicitors and Valuers
  • Previous experience in lending to Limited Companies, Portfolio Landlords and Ex-Pats
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills
  • Have a strong knowledge of the mortgage markets
  • Analytically minded with high attention to detail
